Episode 08: Dan Mar-Molinero
Welcome to episode eight of FORTE Podcast!
I've been so drawn to the sound world of Jazz. I focused on classical piano at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama but also attended Jazz Fridays in the foyer. The jazz pianists and their skill in picking out melodies from the spur of the moment always impressed me.
So it has been a pleasure to explore this world with Dan Mar-Molinero.
Dan is Head of Jazz and Pop Performance at the University of Southampton, where he teaches the Jazz Theory Module that explores jazz harmony and improvisation from 'The Great American Songbook' to modern artists such as Jacob Collier. He studied Contemporary Classical Music at the University of Sussex; he then moved on to study jazz saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Jean Toussaint. He also studied composition with Scott Stroman and Pete Churchill.
